I just got a external hard drive and I am trying to plan to make a backup of all files of ubuntu os and the programs I have.

I want to make a exact copy of the partician of the OS. I have a dual boot type system.

I only want to backup the ubuntu os part.

What should I use and what's the best way for a backing stuff up??

I have heard of partimage and aslo clonezilla.

I want to be able to copy the partician and be able to make it mobile meaning to be able to load it on any computer.

I have a old computer and a new computer. the old computer is the one with dual boot of ubuntu os and windows.

The new computer just has winodows, I plan to make this ubuntu and have it a main server.

What's the best way to backup all my stuff so I don't have to install programs every again well the ones that already been installed.
Uhm, just copy the files to the external drive...
no I mean I want to copy the whole OS system so that if I installed ubuntu on the new computer I can just put in the old computers partician.

so I want to have an exact copy of the ubuntu OS on the old computer so I can install this partician on any computer.

I am doing this for my website. I am at a critical point right now I mean some artwork I might not be able to do again since it was luck I guess that I made some good artwork.

I just want to copy a whole hard drive that I need and maybe even the mbr so I won't lose data.

I have a website on the UBUNTU os and I can't afford spending time every day installing same old stuff.

SO I want a backup in a way where I don't have to touch another config file or anything since it's time consuming I just want a backup to be able to plug-in and restore every single file and also make this to be installed on new computers.

SO the OS ubuntu would be exactly the same as the new computer.

Time is critical I don't have time to be re-installing the whole system again when it get's crashed or a hacker had fun with it.

I want to be able to get back the where I had the system in no time.
idk, wine+Norton Ghost ?
