yo I was gonna dual boot between Backtrack|3 and XP but I couldnt get the Internet to connect on Backtrack. IDK why, I booted up another Linux Live CD (Puppy Linux) and it found 'eth0' fine. (Desktop, through an ethernet, Im not using it on a laptop.) I searched backtracks forums to try to find a tut on connecting but I cant....can anyone help me? because untill them Im stuck on Vista with 512MB Ram, (SLOW COMPUTER)
thanks, PM
I've never used eth0 on backtrack, only wireless. did you "up" the card? If not, do it by going to a command line and typing "iwconfig eth0 up". It may be "ifconfig eth0 up", i can't remember off the top of my head.
Thought about using the wireless assistant under "internet"??
or wireless neighborhood.
I assume you're using a wireless card.
If not, the hard connection can also be found under "Internet"

Also,
Some times drivers won't boot up if you're using "Flux" desktop Instead of KDE.
Black Hat

Is back|track have your drivers?
Do you have the eth0 device?

normally B|T starts up in stealth mode on the net, and you have to use ipconfig to set up the network
well....I think that Rasei may have helped, because I always boot it into Flux instead of KDE. I'll try the other one and see how it goes, if not I'll try the other things
thanks guys
Well as long as you have the drives's you should be sweet
hmmm I booted KDE and FLUX and there was no difference....
i tried ipconfig and nothing happened.
iwconfig eth0 up & ifconfig eth0 up are untested as of yet...maybe this evening.
try with pppoe-setup and then pppoe-start write this in terminal
you dont need any of that junk just config it manually give it your xp's ip,type in the dns, domain name, etc, if that dont work check it out and make sure you did it right if you did, Sorry to say but your fucked. I have to do this every time i use backtrack.
to me it sounds like back|track dosent have your ethernet drivers?
