Ok today I am thinking to study for the A+ exam certifcation.
I just want to know if it's worth going threw??
someone suggested me to go for A+ certification and also network+ certification.
I just would like to know if it's worth the time to spend??? I have heard that every year I need to take the new exam to keep my job.
Also if I do get a Network+ and also A+ certification what kind of fields can I get into??
Also would like to know how employeers treat programmers??? I have heard they treat them like crap.
I have heard they make you work long hours at the finishing of a product.
Would like to hear anyone that has worked as a programmer.
I also would like to ask if in order to get a programming job do you have to have a Bach degree in computer science from college to get into programming teams???
I know c++ and c and many other langos. What would you suggest to me?? I mean I haven't done any hardcore programming meaning using high end math.
I just also downloaded a book about algorithms.
I am young but old enough to drive and old enough to go to college.
I would like some kind of advise to help me figure out what I should do.
I am currently in college majoring in accounting and yes I hate it so much you don't even know.
I am doing it because I plan down the road to run my own business and accounting is the language of business.
Plus I have heard that medical professions and accounting, and lawyers will always have jobs because people can't run without them.
So I thought that accounting degree, would be a backbone where I can easily find a job anywhere.
Ask bsdpunk. I think he did that.
where is bsdpunk profile so I can pm him???
I would like also others opinion in this area.
Don't go for the A+ certificate unless you need it to get another certificate. It's really outdated and nobody cares about it anymore. The only thing you can do with an A+ certificate is repair computers at some run-down store. Yes, programmers and coders get treated like garbage in the work force. I worked 12-16 hours a day, seven days a week for a month and a half this summer to finish a project that they didn't recalculate the deadline for after my manager (the only other person working on this $100,000+ project with me) got breast cancer. Most of the year there's not a whole lot to do though besides the occasional maintenance or updating of existing applications so we spend a lot of time playing Wii in the office or surfing the internet. But when a new project comes along you can always count on the wireframes, copy, and assets to all be late and in the end the programmers and developers put it all together so we're the ones with our time lines cut short. I do make damn good money though so I'll put up with it forever.
It's depressing to know that my employer makes about $120 for every hour that I work.
Thanks for sharing. The reason is I am very confused on where I should go. I am in college right now going for accounting and yes I hate it. I love computers I had one itcs class that teached us sql ect I already knew it so I finished all work for the semeser 2 weeks ahead of the deadline and I was the only one that got an A the teacher didn't lecture or anything I also at times had to help some of the students. This itcs class is required for business area and most people had a very hard time with it because they had no programming experience he also made us use excel and word ect teahing that then access and then mysql and sql programming the class also had some hardware engineering stuff like binery bits words ect ect the basics of what hardware engineers know. I already know this and done good on everything everyone was asking why I don't look happy and I go because I am wasting my time I already knew this crap.
So I am planning to start a gaming company somewhat soon I already finished the basics of accounting.
I right now would like to get a job but don't want to work for resturants more on the computer side.
My highschool class for eletronics which was 2 years was supposed to get us ready for the A+ certification.
They also told use we will be taking it at our school. Then things change and the people that give out the A+ certification said they can't make it and they are only the ones that are allowed to give the test.
So we ended not getting tested. I remeber their was alot of crap we had to know about repairs from windows 95 to windows xp. We were supposed to learn linux but our teacher said he dosen't know linux so we didn't do that. I knew linux and I already have a proxy server up at my house so kids at my class can bypass the schools filter which it worked so the kids where happy.
I love computers and also physics so that means what Nasa does...
I have seen people on rent a coder.com I seen what people ask .. well a project for a programmer that is alot they ask for alot but pay little. I saw one person asking for a whole networksetup.
he wanted a programmer to hookup a linux server and create a network and then create a website and also setup the server. The website was to be advance and wanted the programmer to do the artwork of the website all this for 200 bucks.
When I was starting college I was thinking to go for a computer science degree.
My dad told me to not go that route and go for accounting.
I seriously hate accounting it's boring and it's nothing but math no logic it's math and laws that's really about it.
I am still struggling with accounting since it's a boring subject to me I have to force myself to be interested.
I only get interested when we get into business like c-corperations and s-corperations ect ect.
SO I really wanted to hear your experiences.
I know c++ and c and mostf of the web programming.
I would like to know if I can apply for a job that offers a programming job????
Or do you think most require a computer science degree???
Also could you explain how the workforce of programming is.
I heard their is a neat way a programming like you must leave comments ect and their is a specifice way to make the code look clean or readable for the next proggramer that has to read it.
I would also like to know if the workforce like alot of programming jobs require alot of math???

lol, my A+ class was a semester long.

That's why you should work for a firm. Freelance programming isn't always great.

You don't have to make things neat, you don't need a lot of math, you just need to know the right languages for what you're working on, have troubleshooting skills, be able to sell your ideas (if you're high up enough where people will listen) and have some experience. Not everybody requires a four year degree for programming; two year degrees work just fine. Start out with a technical temping agency. They'll send you to companies to do temporary work until you find a place that will hire you on full time.
