Im switching to Linux. Windows is bullshit, and dark XP is taking way to fuckin long. I already have Ubuntu on disc ready for boot. I still want to use some of my old programs. I beleive you have to make Linux Modules or something like that. How do I make them so some of my old programs work with my Ubuntu.
There is free software you can download through the ubuntu add/program panel. It's called wine. It will run windows programs on linux.
Edit: or you can download it yourself. You can even compile it yourself.

First.
It's not the OS that is shitty,it's your RAM and VGA.Just to get that clear.
Second.
You PARTITION the drive so you can get Linux ( You put Linux alone ) but,it's mostly partitioned.
Third.
Some programs work,some don't.Programs like FireFox and such DO have a Linux Copy.
Is it better to have linux or windows to hack? How do you partition a drive?

The OS is shitty. Vista literally blows, too many restrictions and requires too much from the system. And you can make most windows programs to work on linux even if there not meant for it, thats what hackers do; we make stuff do what its not supposed to do.(that was cool)

Linux is better for hacking. Ubuntu is not the best Linux for hacking. It is the OS that is crap (in reference to Windows), the RAM and VGA just don't help - especially when running an OS that doesn't utilise them fully or well. You can partition a drive a number of different way - I use PartedMagic.
And I couldn't be bothered quoting, so there is all your answers in one paragraph.

Linux is the best .... all microsoft programs are full of shit... Ubuntu is good for starting ..but for hacking is Back|track(i ve downloaded the new version Back|track 3) and for programming its definitely Slackware
I use BT3 as well (though it is my own modified copy). Tis good.

BT3 fucking rulez ..you can change it and totally modify the lock the way to start all you can Imagen and the wine is fucking awesome configured minimum 60% of windows software works that includes the games I ve played diablo ,heroes ,tony hawk underground 2 ..etc. its simply the best
