In my laptops BIOS, there's an option about stringent security. It makes the Bios passwords protected from the simple remove battery/flash bios that resets the bios and the passwords. The Bios also makes a good warning telling me that if I forget the password it will never be reseted.

My question now is; Do you think it's possible to bruteforce(or other form of cracking) the password?

It would become quite handy to know in case the laptop gets stolen so no one will get to use it.
I don't think so, my understanding is that the BIOS comes in before the POST and therefore no software apart from some main drivers are functioning, a brute force would need to be running in order for it to work, and unless there is a bootable version which will start up and run before the OS would and before POST then no it wouldn't work.

Hopefully I'm right, I might not be though, wait until you get more information from more experienced people on here, just though I'd add what I know/ think Oui

If I'm wrong tell me guys...
If I'm right...Hehe
There are programs that can brute force or reset certain types of BIOS, but they are only bootable from LiveCD. Things like Hiren's boot disc include some. I've done it successfully a few times.
